Labor day weekend done right

For the last couple of years I have spent Labor day weekend in San Diego with my sister and her family in San Diego. This year my sister ended up being out of town but my BFF Hillary and I decided to celebrate SD style anyway. We drove down Friday night and Saturday we were up and out to enjoy the day. Here we are downtown SD.
We went to see the Sand sculpture contest downtown. It was amazing to see the things people are able to do with sand!
We had lunch at a lovely little restaurant downtown.
Then we were off to the most epic dessert restaurant EVER. "Extraordinary desserts"
Here we are with our bounty!
That night we were off to see Les Mis.
Here we are ready for the show! It was an amazing production!
Then home to relax and try our desserts. DELISH.
Me and one of our tarts….it had a real flower on it!
Hillary trying the chocolate cake.
The next day we had brunch at a nearby cafe Brianna had recommended. Soooo tasty!
Then we were off to the beach…somehow tin all this gear and we didn't even have kids with us.
The beach was gorgeous!
I helped Hill set up her thrown.
And enjoyed the beach!
Check out the refection of the palms in my glasses.
Then time for ice-cream. #delish
That night we headed back to the OC and spent the rest of the weekend pool side, besides some breaks for shopping.
We topped off the weekend with a trip to  Lucile's for dinner. Such a great weekend of food, fun, and sunshine. We know how to weekend right.

Crossfit BBQ

Yet another beautiful summer weekend in So Cal I headed out to my cross fit gym summer BQQ.
Somehow cross fitting and being a foodie seems to go together, so every event seems to have an epic amount of food.
It was a good time and great to get a chance to catch up with my 6 am gals. :) Love my CF born with it family, proof that only truly great people are cross fitters…at least here in Pasadena!

Epic Summer Day!

One Saturday in August I met up with some people from my branch to do some surfing in Doheny!
The day was beautiful!
I simply can't get enough of the beautiful California coast.
The palm trees.
We had some members of our stake come to teach us to surf!
Here I am with the board I was using to surf.
Surfer girls.
After surfing I headed to my brothers house to see this munchkin…. oh and his lovely mama too. :)
Group selfie: Adden, Me, Brianna, baby nathan.
Adden and Nathan love each other. So cute to see cousins loving each other.
And then I was off to meet up with friends for Shakespeare in the park. Epic summer day in So. cal. :)

Touring downtown

One Summer evening a few friends and I met up down town LA to go on a tour offered by the LA conservancy. Being fairly new to Southern California I haven't had the opportunity to spend much time down town and it was really cool to find out some of the history of the city and marvel at the beauty of it all.
Who knew buildings could be this pretty.
Our tour guide was this great old mustached man who knew a ton about the history of the city.
This sky line is epic!
The palm trees and the buildings make an epic view.
There are some amazing beautiful places downtown. Especially at sunset.
Art work downtown.
One of the hotels has a fountain…that you walk under to get to the lobby.
awesome and a little nerve racking.
We had dinner a the beautiful restaurant on the top that rotates around so if you sit long enough you can see the whole sky line.
It was an epic night and only made my love of LA even deeper! This place is amazing.

Rhianna/Emenieme Concert!

My roommate, being the too cool for school business woman that she is had an extra ticket for The Eminem/Rihanna concert at the Rose bowl and invited me to come along. Here I am ready for some jams.
Not being a huge fan of either singer I was unsure going into it of how much I would enjoy the music but I LOVED it, The concert was amazing to say the least!
Both Eminem and Rihanna are amazing performers and I highly recommend seeing them if you have a chance!

August Randomness

This was a particularly crazy work out  in crossfit. Filthy Fifty!
I met some friends at the Galleria!
On Saturday night a group of friend and I went to see the "Kill Team" super interesting and thought provoking film.
We had dinner after at this cool old 50's diners. There was this cool candy machine outside the bathroom….I'm not sure why the mirror was there…maybe so you can see your face and recognize you really shouldnt be eating candy. #fatty
I think I should see this film #iwanttobeveryverypopular
I also spent a Saturday afternoon with my friend Marlou at our friend Ashley's bridal shower, because we work with her fiancé AJ we won the who knew her best game. #ajcantstoptalkingabouthiswoman
We made a really awesome toilet paper dress! #buttbow
Another Satuday was spent with some friends at a photo and music festival downtown.
Friends enjoying the festival.
And Hill and I spent Sunday with our favorite boys. Hill, Adden, Tara
Classic Benny. :) Tongue out picture.  It was a great and busy August.
