GOOOAALLLL Griffith!

I know this may sound weird to those of you who have known me for many years but I have dreamed for a very long time of being in good enough shape to run a 1/2 marathon. This June I  finally made it happen for myself! Friday night my friend Kristy and I drove down to San Diego and stayed at my sister's apartment (thanks, Teen). On Saturday morning my friend Bekah and I went to the fitness expo where I got all kinds of fun fitness goods. :)
I also picked up my race number and this really great "Run California" T-shirt
After the fitness expo I picked up Kristy and headed for the beach with a quick stop to see the Temple.
Isn't it beautiful?
When we arrived at the beach  I decided ice-cream was in order…after all how often am I carb loading really?
Beach time with Kristy!
I spent  a good amount of time at the beach this summer….a dream come true for me. I love the beach!
My personal theme for the summer "Stronger, Faster, Smarter"
Beach baby.
Reading on the beach is bliss.
At the fitness expo with my race number! After dinner in old time it was time to head back to the apartment for some sleep.
I was pretty excited so I didn't get much sleep… Here I am at about 5 am ready to head to the starting line.
On the bus to the starting line, the nerves and energy were high!
Pre-race photo, ready to run!
Pre race selfie at the starting line.
On the road, getting it done!
one of my favorite road side signs.
Along the road!
Another of my favorite signs " you look so skinny"….that girl knew just what you want to hear about mile 8 of a half marathon. :)
Crossing the finish line after running the whole thing!!!
What says I just accomplished something great like a peace sign?
Post run with my metal! Seriously such an exciting moment! So proud to have accomplished this goal!
