Spartan BEAST

In early September I was invited by a group of mid singles in our area to participate in a Spartan beast in Temecula. Who knew at the time it would be one of the hottest weekends of the year. I have to say I was kind nervous since I really only know one of the girls I would be racing with and I had met 2 of the guys in the group, but everyone was amazing. We spent the morning hydrating and resting up for the race. When we arrived it's was roughly 100 degrees out.
Walking up to registration was daunting.
Check out how hilly the terrain is.
The course map at a glance.
The base camp was beautiful.
Here's our before photo Looking fresh and clean!
and after! We did remarkably well. We made it all the way to mile 8 before they closed the course, apparently too many so called "weekend warriors" were not prepared and ran it in the heat and ended up with injuries, but the end all of the EMT's had been called on to take people out so they just didn't have enough medical personal to keep the race going. We were bummed but glad for the fun we had.
Here I am with my medal.
My racing buddies Kevan, Lisa, and Julia.
The guys.
The Girls
Beasts!
This cracked me up, by the end of the race Scott pictured here looked like a chip and dale dancer mostly because he ended up giving his shorts (he's' wearing his under spandex) to Cara who ripped her pants on mile 2 and then using his shirt as a loin clothe. Such a great guy.
My battle scares from the race, totally worth it? Yep. Totally.
